Environmental goals 2008-2012

The following goals have been set based on Klövern’s environmental policy: 

• Reduce heating by 20 per cent.
  Current situation: Reduction by year-end 2010 totalled 12 per cent
• Environmental inventory of all properties.
  Current situation: Carried out where motivated.  
• New construction in accordance with Klövern’s environmental friendly concept building
  Current situation: Construction of an office building for Ericsson has started in Kista
• New construction and refurbishment in accordance with the Green Building Requirement *.
  Current situation: Klöverns first Green Building is Allmogekulturen 5, in Västerås.
• Environmental report when closing the accounts.
  Current situation: Being implemented
• Continued Green IT efforts.
  Current situation: Being implemented. A video conference system is being introduced during 2011.
• Stop using oil for heating of properties.
  Current situation: There is now oil heating at only one property as well as peak heating at two properties.
• Continued reduction in water consumption.
  Current situation: The water saving project during 2008/2009 led to a saving of around 30 per cent between 2007 and 2010. Water consumption has been reduced from 0.5 cu.m per sq.m. in 2007 to 0.3 cu.m per sq.m.
• Continued efficiency improvements in handling waste.
  Current situation: Work in progress.
• Plan for phasing out PCB.
  Current situation: An audit has been made of all properties.
  
  

*Green Building is the EU programme for reducing energy consumption in premises with a view to promoting improved energy efficiency in office and industrial buildings. To be certified, new buildings must consume 25 per cent less energy than specified in the National Board of Housing, Building and Planning’s guidelines for new construction.
